This is one of John Arden's early Vriesea hybrids.  It is a cross of Vr. platynema var. variegata and hieroglyphica. The rosette of mature plants will grow to 1.5 m in diameter and 1.3 m tall. The foliage layered with bronze green herringbone cross-banding. The underside is reddish green. 

It will produce a tall, erect and branched inflorescence with a pale pink scape bracts and creamy yellow floral bracts with yellow petals.
