This rare natural hybrid was found near the silver mining town of Taxco, Mexico. It was growing with Tillandsia thyrsigera. It is one of the most unusual of Tillandsia ionantha hybrids. The leaves are thick, stiff and upright. It is husky plant with multiple short, rose colored spikes and purple flowers. I have named it Tillandsia 'Unident', as for many years the label on the plant was "T. unident", which was an abbreviation for unidentified. Often someone visiting the nursery would come and ask if they could buy one of the T. unidents, thinking that was the name.
