This species originates in Columbia, Surinam, Brazil, Peru and Bolivia. It is found growing at elevations of 100- 750 m. The bright pink colored bracts on the simple inflorescence produces magenta colored flowers. Prefers to grow in some shade and likes moisture. Pups easily. Large plants available are 8+ inches tall and should be blooming soon.
