This species is native to Argentina and Bolivia. It produces a short bloom spike, pink with pale yellow petals, similar to those of Tillandsia ixioides. In fasct, at one time this species was mistakenly identified in the trade as T. ixioides var. occidentalis. 

Grow in medium bright light.
