This species was previously a Vriesea, but now it is a Tillandsia species. This is the form from Peru which is a little smaller than form from Ecuador. Produces an open rosette, 3 inches diameter when mature, with short stiff leaves. A single narrow red spike with purple petals. Produces several offsets on long stolens.
