This hybrid was acquired from Mark Dimmitt in the '90's as Tillandsia aeranthos X ixioides.  Many years later it was registered by P. Isley as T. Dick Rutan. It is intermediate between the two parents, the foliage reminding you of T. ixioides and the spike has muted coloring of T. aeranthos.
